HELP!!! THIS HOMEWORK…

By |2017-10-16T17:52:33+00:00February 3rd, 2017|Events, School|0 Comments

Do you ever feel overwhelmed looking over your child’s homework? Or do you ever have those “discussions” about the way it should be done?  We have too! Did you know that we offer homework help on Mondays and Wednesdays for middle school students and on Thursdays for high school students? We do! We will help your kiddos work through math problems, research information for projects, or anything else they need. We also feed them dinner and give them a variety of outlets to get out some of their creative energy. We have a computer, printer, lots of art supplies and school supplies, ping pong, TI-84 calculator, basketball, volleyball, washers and a bunch more!

The added benefit is the relationships the students are building with one another.  From making a new friend, to just knowing their is someone who has your back when needed…it has been a blessing to watch these students playing together, collaborating on homework, talking about assignments, etc.

We just added the ability to pick students up after school at the two middle schools (FMS on Mondays and HMS on Wednesdays) Visit our website to schedule your pick up and fill out the appropriate permissions!

The Sandbox at Madeline’s Place has partnered with several local businesses and through gracious donations from our citizens, to bring Prom Extravaganza 2017.  If you have a Hutto High School Junior or Senior who isn’t planning to attend prom this year because of the expense, we may be able to help. Contact us at sandboxatmadelines@gmail.com to set up an appointment. We have a lot of beautiful dresses left to choose from, as well as, several hair and nail gift certificates and ability to help with tuxedos.
Kids are important to us and helping them navigate adolescents safely, happily and with a healthy sense of self is our priority. Prom Extravaganza 2017 is one avenue to do such.

That’s a Wrap

Our Summer Volleyball League came to a close Monday night.  This is an opportunity for young ladies who are entering 7th and 8th grade to get their hands on the volleyball, work with potential team mates and learn the game of volleyball. For some, this was the very first time they played the game. Many teams are coached by respective high school volleyball players. This gives these girls the chance to see the game from a coach’s perspective and learn the importance of working together, encouraging one another and being there for their team. This summer league is more than volleyball, though. By the end of the season we witness girls who formed friendship they otherwise might not have, we witness girls form a bond with their coaches and give them a sense of pride when they go watch “their coach” play at the high school level.  This opportunity to invest in girl’s is just what the Sandbox desires-relationships are important, learning life lessons in a safe environment is important and the mental, emotional and physical health of teens are all important components of the Sandbox.  Below are some photos from the 7th grade gym at Farley Middle School and the 8th grade gym at Hutto High School.
7th grade winning team was: Thrall Middle School
8th grade winning team was: The Lady Panthers from Pflugerville
